According to a statement issued by the Malaysian Foreign Ministry, the visit aims to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries and explore new cooperation opportunities. Additionally, Zambri will utilize the visit to meet representatives of the Iraqi business community to explore the economic opportunities available between Malaysia and Iraq.

This visit is the first for the Malaysian Foreign Minister to Iraq since he took office on December 2, 2022, and he will be accompanied by a delegation of senior government officials and representatives from the business sector.

It is worth noting that Iraq is considered one of Malaysia’s main trading partners in West Asia. The trade exchange between the two countries recorded growth last year, reaching 4.68 billion Malaysian ringgit, an increase of 24.3% from 2021.
